Braunston traditional narrow boat rally
Wendy joined me at Calcutt Marina and we headed for Braunston where luck would have there was the annual traditional narrow boat rally happening. Amazingly we find a mooring just up the Oxford. We had a good look round the living quarters on a traditional narrow boat which considering how tiny it is took ages!

Highlights
- a chance to check out the living quarters of a traditional narrow boat
- sharing the canals with Wendy
Full Trip Report
Calcutt top lock and back again – 18 miles in approx 7hrs with 0 locks
Friday 27th June had to jump start the engine this morning, first time since the new battery. i wonder if it was all the on/off between the locks and i had not remember to engage the alternator, lets hope it does not happen again. Meet Wendy at Calcutt and they where very helpful with leaving her car there. We headed East on the Grand Union and found a mooring early evening.
Saturday 28th June we are up and on the move by 8am and miraculously find a mooring just up the Oxford, good job we are small boat. We only discovered last night that the rally was on last night and it was so much fun. Lots of beautiful old boats moving about, stalls and of course a bar. There was live music but we are too lazy to walk back, lots of folks clearly had a good night as they passed our boat on their way home.
Sunday 29th June we have had enough of the rally so take a spin up the Oxford with lunch in a quite spot then turn back to the Grand Union to find an overnight spot close to Calcutt ready for departure tomorrow.
Monday 30th June we are little slow starting which means by the time we have got the boat into the marina and the car loaded we are travelling back to London in the heat of the day. 34 in the boat when we packed up! Glad to be leaving the boat in a marina i would have worried about him if i had left him in a public mooring for a week.
